Dingle

sunny 20 °C

Friday

Yippeee its Friday, straight after work its time to catch a taxi and race to Heuston to catch the train to Tralee. We're staying in Tralee tonight and then onto Dingle on Saturday.... Starting to feel a lot more relaxed,we originally wanted to go to Milton Milbay but couldn't get a b&b and with my leg being a bit dodgey at the moment, camping was not going to be a good idea :( but as I've never been to Dingle it would still be a great weekend. I'd just confirmed with the b&b's in Tralee and Dingle with the times that we would arriving etc ....

Our brilliant taxi driver managed to get us into town very quick using every shortcut he knew enabling us to get a few drinks for the train ;) (Well it is a four hour journey normally and suprise there was cattle on the tracks half way down so we were stuck for an extra half an hour)... Anyway we finally got to our hostel which was really nice with friendly staff (Finnegans). Its about five minutes from the train / bus station.

Saturday
On Saturday we went to the bus station to catch a nine o clock bus to Dingle (about an hour and qtr away from Tralee). But as these things go we managed to miss it, as the next bus wasn't for another two hours I tried to ring the B n'b (hazelbrook)to tell them we were delayed but the phone was engaged three times so I gave up and decided I'd ring them when we got there. The weather is really hot, its hard to believe we're still in Ireland... :)

We arrive in Dingle around 12.15 and ring the b n b as they had said they would pick us up from the bus stop. BUT lo and behold because we were late she gave away our room and gave out to me for not ringing her, she wouldn't even give me a chance to explain ..... so fumming and annoyed we decided to start knocking on doors and managed to get what seemed to be the last double room in the town above Murphys Pub, (trust us to end up in the pub). The staff here were so friendly and helpful... we spent the Saturday walking around the town and area getting held up in traffic jams

On Saturday night we did a mini pub crawl and ended up in the middle of a ceili (it was a matter of too much beer and trying to prove to a bunch of american students that there was more to Irish dancing them jumping like a jack rabbit). Oh we also had food in Murhpys which was really tasty !!

On Sunday morning we got up early and decided we'd do a little cycle for about 3 hours, well we got lost (7.5 hours)and ended up cycling the Slea Head Drive path..... we saw loads (well I should hope so after 30 miles, sore legs, sunburnt face and legs and dehydration (solved with a few beers ;) )

waiting for the sunset

as you can see we were too thirsty to wait for the actual sunset and suprise ended up back in the pub/hardware shop. Too explain there is a hardware shop with hammers, tools and the like on one side of the room and a bar complete with taps of draft beer, bottles etc.... to the back there is a rent a bike shop..... I think it was called Foxy Johns or something like that..... from here we started a pub crawl again....

Headed home on Monday with very sore heads, lobster red bodies and full of love for the Irish scenery.

Hey Nikki! :)

I just spent the wknd in Dingle too! It was amazing. The pub come hardware store is hilarious isnt it? LOL!

I'm sunburnt today though. Will write a blog entry at some point with some photos.

I think I could happily move to Dingle in the morning. FABULOUS!

Yeah when we were in the pub the Gaelic match was on so there was a lot of drink being drank and challenges been thrown, all in good spirit though...

I loved Dingle , its a brilliant place, theres just too many people down there at the moment, when we went cycling we got caught up in a local event, they had to swim a mile, then cycle a few , ending with running, and they were so fit ! While we were puffing and panting up the hills.. :)
